Orbital Science - Cygnus

Long-time satellite launcher Orbital Sciences of Dulles, Va., plans to enter the world of spaceflight with its advanced maneuvering spacecraft Cygnus. Launched aboard Orbital’s Taurus 2 rocket, the cylindrical Cygnus freighter includes a pressurized cargo module that can carry up to 5,952 pounds (2,700 kg) of payload. Current designs are unmanned only, though Orbital holds a $1.9 billion contract with NASA for eight cargo flights to the International Space Station. Tests begin in 2011.

Almaz

Excaliber - Almaz

Excalibur Almaz Limited, based in the Isle of Man, acquired several of the former Soviet Union’s Reusable Return Vehicles (RRVs), spacecraft designed for transporting cosmonauts to secret 1970s Almaz space stations. Excalibur Almaz has not quoted a price for a week-long trip, but plans to update the RRV spacecraft design with modern technology. The spacecraft consists of a cone-shaped RRV for launch and re-entry, and an expendable service module. The vehicles can carry three people, a commander and two passengers.

SpaceDev

Space Dev - Dream Chaser

SpaceDev, a subsidiary of Sierra Nevada Corporation in Centennial, Colo. (which received $20 million from NASA in February 2010 under a commercial crew development competition), is developing Dream Chaser, a seven-person spacecraft designed to launch astronauts into space using an Atlas 5 rocket.

Lynx

XCOR -Lynx

XCOR Aerospace of Mojave, Calif. enters the suborbital spaceship business with a rocket-powered space plane called the Lynx. Rides aboard this small craft run $95,000, with only a pilot and one passenger aboard each flight. However, a fast turnaround time of two hours will compensate for the small cabin size, permitting up to four flights per day

RocketRacing

Armidillo Rocket Racing

Virginia-based tourism company Space Adventures plans to sell space tourist seats on new suborbital rocket ships developed by Armadillo Aerospace, a Texas company founded by computer game entrepreneur John Carmack. Armadillo’s vertically-launched rocketship will take two passengers 62 miles (100 km) above the earth for $102,000, quite a bit less than the amount Space Adventures charges for a trip to the International Space Station.

Blue Origin

Amazon.com - Blue Origin

Blue Origin, a space travel firm created by Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos, maintains relative secrecy in its Kent, Wash., facility. Few facts have escaped regarding the company’s space capsule, the New Shepard suborbital vehicle, other than that it will consist of a pressurized crew capsule mounted atop a propulsion module to hurl experiments and astronauts up 75 miles (120 km). NASA has given Blue Origin $3.7 million to develop an astronaut escape system and build a composite space capsule prototype.

Planet Space

Planet Space - Silver Dart

Chicago-based PlanetSpace, Inc. aims for orbital space trips, but could convert its space plane to a suborbital Earth transit system. Its Silver Dart space plane could be equipped with a suborbital rocket engine for point-to-point flights on the Earth. The space plane has a potential glide range of more than 25,000 miles (40,233 km) at hypersonic speeds. “A flight from New York to Paris in 20 minutes is not out of the question using that system,” says PlanetSpace CEO Geoff Sheerin.

Bigalow Base

Bigalow Base - Sundancer

Bigelow Aerospace in Las Vegas, Nevada, offers an unusual twist on space station design with Sundancer, a human-rated module that inflates in space. Multiple modules would combine to create a space complex, or even a moon base, capable of supporting three crew members. Bigelow has already launched two prototype modules, Genesis 1 and 2, which are unmanned but still in orbit today. The company has contracted with SpaceX to fly aboard a Falcon 9 in 2014.

Virgin Galactic - Space Ship 2

Well-known entrepreneur Richard Branson and his Virgin Galactic company in New Mexico offer space tourists a chance to fly into suborbital space aboard SpaceShipTwo for the sum of $200,000. The WhiteKnightTwo airplane will carry SpaceShipTwo with two pilots and six passengers to an altitude of 50,000 feet (16 km), where SpaceShipTwo is released and its rocket engine fires to take it up to 68 miles (110 km). Captive carry test flights are under way.

ARE YOU READY FOR SPACE COLONIZATION?

Space Port

spliFlut

That might be easier said than done, but I do think you are right. I just hope we even get a chance to do that.

That means the Maldives is the place you would most want to start with, she stated.

It is closest to China and China is our main customer for our colonization program. It could make the long term marketing easier and more profound if we are that close to them, I told her.

Why would you want to market to China when they are communist, she asked perplexed by my answer?

This is more of a population solution than a political statement. They need to have an answer to that pressing problem before worrying about their political orientation. They are obviously a mixed economy in reality. It’s more important that they choose expansion through tricolonization rather than war, I said so she would get the main reason this was so important.

Is this an “Art of War” scenario, she asked totally surprising me with this observation.

It is in a way. The avoidance of war to win a political point is always the better way to expand a nation. They can do that with any political label they want.

It looks like they mostly just want control no matter what anyone calls their system, she said.

Exactly! Maybe they are right. I don’t like that, but they are a very successful people in terms of numbers. It is against my nature but they seem to be able to survive better the way they are doing things.

So you aren’t really that political, she ventured?

I only know what I prefer and can’t understand why everyone isn’t like that. I guess there are a lot of people that like to be told what to do and how to do it from on top by some kind of political leader. Just look at all the fools that vote that way. I just don’t like suffering the company of fools, as the old saying goes. But I can do business with them because I’m a believer in evolution. Some people would call that enlightenment. I prefer, common sense.

Now lets get into this movie thing that I know you are really interested in to have fun while you are working with us, I said getting into her head softly.

Is this going to be a separate story from your daily journal, she wanted to know.

Yes! But I do see parts of my journal being edited into the story line, I informed her. The thing I want you and Rod to try is adding your own spin on the story line.

Can we turn it into a love story?

Sure! We are going to have many different episodes that can be used with our travel agency.

Why would this be for a travel agency?

We specialize in home made videos as part of our product to give the vacationers some fun to do while site seeing. We’ll supply some stories and give them professional help if they want. That can be in the form of filming and editing. That depends on their budget for the trip. They can do it all themselves using our templates, if they prefer.

So what would you put out there to get attention onto your Country of Libertas, she asked wisely?

EASTERN COWBOY

An “Eastern”, I said knowing this made no sense to her.

Eastern! What is that. Chinese people with cowboy hats, she said trying to get into this thought?

Close! Try special swimming and diving equipment instead of hats and you would have it. Get young Chinese couples that want to have more than one child and have them do a fish roundup to breed bigger and better fish like the cowboys did with cattle to feed America. They could be called Fishman, not fishermen. They won’t be down there killing fish like the buffalo hunter did in the West before food was more important than hides.

Cowboys just rounded up wild cattle and brought in foreign breeds to enhance their stock and they have succeeded in feeding many hungry people with high quality beef.

So who are their enemies. There aren’t any Indians for them to fight, she pointed out.

True! But I’m sure there will be plenty of the bad guys to battle with for great action scenes.

Are these films just for the oriental market, as she asked another great question?

With a market like that, why do you need Americans as your primary viewer? The numbers speak for themselves.

She paused without a follow up question, so I took this break to tell her I would bring this up tomorrow when Mandi and Apo show up with their movie crew. She would obviously fit in and have a blast doing what she had only dreamed of doing.

That evening Sopharina came with me to an awesome nightclub on the Island. I told her about out trip and our new plans.

We are going to Hawaii, I told her.

What are we going to do there, she wanted to know?

We are checking out the Hawaii atolls for a possible purchase and protection agreement for a new city, I explained.

I would feel very comfortable living there, she quickly added obviously encouraging me into that direction.

That’s where we will start the first fish ranches.

You mean fish farms, she said correcting me.

No! I mean ranches because we are going to have new Eastern Cowboys on them to round up big fish for breeding purposes, I said to her surprise.

And who is going to star in the Eastern, she said thinking she was trapping me?

So far I only have the names of the main two characters. The male leader is Sun Tzu. He a direct descendent of the writer of the famous military book “Art of War” and Kay Utsume, an old friend of mine. She could be played by Kelly Hu. I don’t know who would be good for the male lead, I told her truthfully.

Why are you writing about an old girlfriend, she asked trying to corner me with a Jerry Springer moment?

That’s what writers do. That way I can think about her cute personality while building her character, I said knowing that would make her think about her own situation in my stories.

I don’t like where this is going, but the concept does sound timely considering what is happening in the World right now.

That’s perceptive of you. This is just me doing problem solving and trying to make it interesting at the same time. We need the big fish and the orientals are best at being this type of cowboys. We just have to get Hollywood behind the concept. They need to do something different. Everything coming down the pike from them seems like nothing but retreads, I pointed out to her.

Is there going to be a lot of kung fu fights, she asked? And I knew why. She always left the room when those are put into a film.

I can’t imagine underwater kung fu. Maybe there will be a new school of underwater fighting. That could make for an interesting scene. Although I’m not sure how to write about it effectively, I admitted.
