RECAP: So here is the first SPLIT. Split will do all the heavy lifting and Flut will handle the fluff. Tricolonization is the way the World will go starting in 2012.
NEW WEEK:
I found three new things of interest and when I called Flut, he added two more ideas that we might be able to use.
Arnold liked the new “Speed of Light Diodes” and the E-Cell Charger. He could see a possible use for both within his system.
Flut was most interested in the “Open Source DNA Collector” for the Whimsters.
I could see a good use for the “Floating Wind Generator” and I always liked seeing more buildings using “Vertical Forest” designs.
It was a good session. Then I switched over to search for the atolls that were either close to Hawaii or on the way to the Pacific Garbage Patch. The plane was mostly flying itself.
I could tell this would be an ongoing search. On Maui I planned to spend time in the local real estate offices to get the real low down on atolls in these areas. We might even open an office to sell our condo/timeshares on Libertas.
Sopharina’s condo was perfect for the group. Rod and Judy stayed in a local hotel to have more privacy. This was the first time Mandi stayed with us even though she had been with the girls on the Plizzel asteroid. Apo spent his time with Arnold. They mostly chattered about new technology like the geeks they were.

At the real estate offices the next day I was able to get several good leads on possible atolls available. They were intrigued by my interest in these locations.
Even if we didn’t find a suitable location in the area, it was obvious that there was quite a market for the type of property we were engaged in developing. The smallness of the investment needed to get into the lucrative market of oceanfront time shares was of particular interest to the local brokers. They realized how high the entry level was for the larger developments.
Sopharina and Wuzz took Mandi on a local shopping spree. Mandi usually didn’t pay much attention to this type of activity but had to admit that it was a fun way to get a feeling for the local traditions and customs. She didn’t buy much, but spent most of the time getting explanations from the locals as to what the many unusual items where all about.
Rod and Judy went on a helicopter ride where Judy got some great shots that she showed us later that evening. You could tell how much their youthful energy made it a magical trip for them. It made me think of my trips when I was young in Europe. Everything was like being in a movie. Maybe that was why I liked doing these story board projects so much.
When we were ready to make the flight to the Pacific Garbage Patch, I told them I was going to fly over a couple of the atolls first so they should just proceed to any part of the area they wanted to visit. We would meet back at the condo later in the day and see if our opinions were the same. I had a strong feeling that this was just a waste of time.

The first place I wanted to see was Johnston Island. This was recently sold but I didn’t have the details yet. I don’t know if you could get title insurance for something like that so it might be harder to track down. I was using some brokers I’d met to find out about that and some other leads.
The next island I wanted to see was Wake Island. I remembered an old movie of that name. It would be called Heroes Island if it was up to me. The marines really knew what freedom and liberty was all about. It just made me wonder what they would think about all the freedoms we have lost since then. What a waste! Who would they shoot now?
Hopefully, a new breed will rise from the ashes in Libertas. I felt very sad when we flew over this island. Even Judy could tell something was wrong but I told her I didn’t want to talk about it.
She asked me a couple questions about the “Blue Guppy” book that she was reading instead. This got me back into a good mood.
You and Shekay were just a couple of hippies in Houston, weren’t you, she asked?
I was in the military during the main part of the hippie era, so mavbe we were, to a certain extent. The Westheimer area we lived in was called “Freaky Town Texas” by the locals because it was an art community and hosted two art festivals a year and we lived right in the the middle of everything. I had an afro hair do at the time too.

Flut called me to tell me about a new hotel that China built or converted, depending on how you look at it. They used a aircraft carrier that they got from Russia and turned it into a Hotel.
It made me think of the Blueseed people. What a great way to start a new seastead city. He sent the picture that was released to the press but I wanted to see more. The numbers started running through my head as soon as it became obvious this was a good idea. Most of the militaries of the World are cutting back on traditional military hardware so it might be a good time to get in on this action. Usually it costs governments to mothball these items so it would probably be easy to pick one up if you had a good enough plan for it’s use.
I ran this by Flut but he didn’t seem all that excited about the idea. He pointed out that the costs might be a lot higher than we might expect.
I pointed out that it might be at least worth looking into.
No comment from him. He was probably thinking I would pass that task on to him.
I put it on the back burner because I trust Flut’s instincts. But I knew it would bother me for awhile if this turned out to be a real solution. At least the laws would be clear and the reliability of the ship would be assured. It’s not like one of these would just sink on us. I wish I knew more about this kind of salvage.
Judy asked me about the ranch in Mexico that I used to visit almost every weekend. Was it really like you wrote about, she asked?
It was even more fun than I could put down on paper, was my reaction.
